SPAIN / The 31st Goya Awards

The Goya Awards Ceremony for Spanish and Latin American films was held in Madrid on Saturday, February 4th.

The award for Best Feature Film went to Tarde para la ira (The Wrath of a Patient Man) by Raúl Arévalo. A thriller in which a man takes revenge for a crime, eight years after it has been committed. The director won other awards: Best New Director and Best Original Screenplay with David Pulido. The main actor of his film, Monolo Solo, won the Goya for Best Supporting Actor. The film will be released in France on April 26th.

As for A monstro viene a verme (A Few Minutes After Midnight), a fantasy film in which, to escape his troubled everyday life, a young boy dreams of encounters with extraordinary creatures. It won nine awards including Best Director for Juan Antonio Bayona . The cast includes Liam Neeson, Felicity Jones and Sigourney Weaver.

Actress Emma Suarez received two Goyas: Best Actress in Almodóvar’s Julieta and Best Supporting Actress in Isaki Lacuesta and Isa Campo’s La proxima piel (The Next Skin). Finally, Roberto Alamo won Best Actor Award for Que dios nos perdone by Rodrigo Sorogoyen.
