On October 5th Al Tarab launched a new season of Cinenómada. Created in 2005, the project wants to make African films more accessible to Spanish audiences through screenings organized in several Spanish cities. Al Tarab is also encouraging a wider public to appreciate African cinema by organising the Tarifa-Tangier Festival of African Film (FCAT).
This new season of Cinenómada will be held in Zaragoza, Madrid, Seville and Tarifa and is supported by three partners: the Institut français in Spain, FCAT and Al Tarab. The three organisers are basing their selection for this Cinenómada on African comedies.
Ibrahim Letaief’s Tunisian short film Visa and the French animated feature Aya de Yopougon, made by Marguerite Abouet and Clément Oubreri, have already been screened at a cinema in Madrid. Several screening sessions are planned during October: belief and burlesque, and the way the cinema of the real is capable of provoking uncontrolled laughter in an audience.
