SPAIN / D’A Festival: “Un Sol Radiant” wins the Talents Award

D'A Film Festival

Un Sol Radiant, a feature film made by a Catalan collective, has won the Talents Award, the most prestigious award of the D’A – Barcelona Film Festival. The 13th edition of this international festival took place from March 23rd to April 2nd.

The festival’s Talents Competition showcases first and second features by international directors. During the award ceremony the jury for this category, Quim Casas (critic), Leticia Dolera (actress and director) and Alba Sotorra (director), described Un Sol Radiant as an “imaginary tale about the transition to adulthood, simple and poetic.” The award comes with a cash prize €10,000.

Tracing a family’s internal battles during a holiday in the country, the film was directed by five students from Pompeu Fabra University (Mònica Cambra, Ariadna Fortuny, Clàudia Garcia de Dios, Lucía Herrera and Mònica Tort).

Among the other festival winners, Gala Hernández López’ La mecánica de los fluidos won the Best Film Award in the category called Un Impulsi Colectivo, for Catalan and Spanish films. In the same category, María Antón Cabot’s Sóc vertical però m’agradaria ser horitzontal won the OpenECAM Award.

The list of all the winners is available on the festival web-site.
