SPAIN / “Caída Libre”, Laura Jou’s 2nd feature

Caída Libre

Having made her first feature Life Without Sara Amat (2019), Spanish director Laura Jou is now in post-production with her second: Caída Libre (Free falling).

Produced by Corte y Confección, Suspense Entertainment and Ejercicios de Equilibrio AIE, the film focuses on a national rhythmic gymnastics coach, Marisol. Known for her perfectionism and her rigorous discipline, Marisol pins all her hopes on a promising new talent Angélica, preparing her for the world championship. But two weeks before the competition Marisol discovers her partner is expecting a child by another woman. Devastated by this discovery, she passes her pain and anger on to her student.

Laura Jou began her career as an actress in the 1980’s. In particular she worked with Julieta Serrano and Héctor Alterio before working as a children’s coach. She now runs her own actors studio. She wrote and directed her first short film Don’t Leave Me in 2015, going on to direct several episodes of the television series Cucut and Simple.

Caída Libre will be distributed in Spain by Universal Pictures International Spain and international sales will be handled by Film Factory Entertainment.
