FRANCE / FIDLab unveils its chosen projects

FIDLab

FID, the Marseille international film festival, has unveiled the 10 projects selected for the 15th FIDLab which will be held on July 6th and 7th during the 34th FID (July 4th – 9th).

Described by its organizers as a workspace for project leaders, FIDLab provides a framework in which they can discuss their project with producers, broadcasters, distributors and other professionals in the audiovisual and film sector. Projects are selected regardless of their format, genre or stage of progress.

Among the ten projects selected this year Gregor Božič’s drama documentary, Tales of Fruits and Monsters (Slovenia), focuses on the research of a Slovenian film-maker-botanist and a Japanese neuroscientist. Both are studying a controversial 20th century scientific paper which describes a pear tree on the border between Yugoslavia and Italy supposedly possessing the power to defy time. Also selected, Burak Çevik’s Turkish drama Fragments of this Beauty, following the journey of two men responsible for a political massacre in Turkey in 1977.

All the chosen projects as well as the complete festival programme are available on the FID web-site.
