The BBC has announced that the film Life and Death in Gaza will air on BBC Two on October 15th and then be available outside the UK on the BBC World Service YouTube page.
From terrifying bombing raids to countless evacuations, the intensity of family separations and reunions to the deaths and even the birth of new life amidst the chaos, Life and Death in Gaza is a self-shot film by and about four individuals, filmed over the course of a year. The 90-minute documentary follows Khalid (a physiotherapist), Aya (a lawyer), Adam (a youth worker for an NGO) and Aseel (a young pregnant mother) as they share with us their own survival and the impact of the conflict on their families and communities.
As BBC Storyville Editor Emma Hindley explains, the film tells the story of the conflict from the Gazans’ perspective. “While we may have seen news reports about the Israel-Gaza conflict over the past year, we rarely hear from ordinary citizens of Gaza. This unique film brings us Gaza as you’ve never seen it before, through the eyes of those living there.”
