Festival International du Cinéma-réalité

The 4th International Reality Film Festival was held in Tangier from May 14th to 18th.

Organized by a Moroccan association called Les Lions du nord pour la culture et l’art, the festival features a professional short film competition. This year twelve films were presented, including Closure by Mooney Abu Samra (Jordan), Une Histoire de Vacances by Malika Zairi (France – Morocco) and Lost Braids by Douaa Wahba (Egypt). The Grand Prix went to One Year, One Day by Italian director Daniele Scotchi.

There was also a student short film competition. Among the six films in the running, the Tunisian film Mima by Dorra Sfar won Best Director Award. Hajer Fehri, who stars in the film, also won Best Performance Award.

Mima is about a young Tunisian director returning to her home town to make a film in the house where she grew up. But she discovers the house is up for sale.
