MOROCCO / Morocco wants to join the governing body of TV5MONDE

In a letter addressed to the Swiss presidency of the governments which finance TV5MONDE, the Kingdom of Morocco has formalised its wish to join the governing body of the French-language audiovisual structure.

The six governments hope that opening up to Morocco, which first asked to join in 2025, will build a dynamic Francophone network, a shared and vibrant audiovisual space reflecting that network’s essential values.

In his letter, Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, confirms the Kingdom’s interest in joining the partnership, saying that “the commitment to respecting the membership criteria is all the more resolute as it stems from a convergence of values and a shared concern for transparency and good governance.”

TV5MONDE will collaborate with the SNRT, Morocco’s national television, represented by Faïçal Laraïchi. SNRT will work with other public broadcasters to co-produce content and make it available to TV5MONDE’s ten linear channels as well as to the global streaming platform TV5MONDE+.

Once accepted, Morocco should be the first African country to join the governance of the French-language audiovisual network.
