Soufiane El Khalidy heads the cast of a new detective series, The Octet, directed by Ahmed Medhat and produced by the Saudi group MBC. Soufiane El Khalidy stars alongside two other Egyptian actors Asser Yassin and Reem Mostafa.

Without dwelling on his role in this production, Soufiane El Khalidy tells us that he “was asked to perform some fights and stunts.” The Octet promises to be an expensive series, filming in several countries including northern France at Hazebrouck Town Hall. Director Ahmed Medhat is known for several big budget productions, including Eltorbini and the series Between Two Worlds.

For Soufiane El Khalidy this major detective series is a way of “honouring the Moroccan police and the Royal Moroccan army” in which his father served. He adds that this series is an opportunity for him to work “in Arabic and Darija for the first time in my career.”

El Khalidy is best known in the United States, where he has a degree in film production at Florida’s Full Sail University. He has written, directed and produced many films, including Flags and Masks Down and Juke Box Zero. As an actor he has also worked on popular series such as NCIS LA. Most recently he played Centurion in the History Channel’s new series Colosseum.
