The 9th Salé International Festival of Women’s Film was held between September 28th and October 3rd. This year the festival had its first-ever documentary section, with six documentaries competing. There were also 12 feature-length drama films, all focussed on the theme of women.
Ahmed Abdalla’s film “Décor” received both the Grand Jury Prize and the Best Actor Award, for the Egyptian actor Mohamed Diab.
The Special Jury Prize went to “Vierge sous serment” by Italian film-maker Laura Bispuri, while the Best Screenplay Award went to Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s “Mustang”, adding this to its many other awards.
The Best Documentary Film Award went to “Queens Of Syria” by Syrian film-maker Yasmin Fedda.
