Every Tuesday since March 31st 2M has been broadcasting a new police series K1. Produced by the channel, its budget is 1.5 million dirhams (€140,000) per episode, making it the most expensive drama series in the history of Moroccan television.
Created by Jaouad Lahlou, Aicha Jabour, Khadija Alami and Noureddine Lakhmari, this police investigation series worked closely with the Moroccan Intelligence services, the DGSN. According to 2M, “the DGSN trained and mentored the actors on aspects related to police work, provided logistical and uniform resources, access to premises and infrastructure, and ensured compliance with current procedures in the portrayal of the characters.”
Director Nour-Eddine Lakhmari explains the DGSN’s role: “With Khadija Alami, the producer, it was essential to respect administrative requirements and the realities of the profession. The DGSN opened their doors to us, allowing actors access to training at the Kenitra Police Academy.”
Since April 3rd a version dubbed into French has also been available.
