Organized by the Observatoire marocain de l’image et des médias (OMIM), the 11th Cap Spartel International Film Festival will be held from April 23rd to 27th at the historic Alcazar Cinema in Tangier.
Under the banner “Cinema and the Arts” this year’s festival will highlight the relationship between film and other art forms. The focus will be on drama and documentary films about the arts. A jury of international journalists and critics will present awards to the best films in both competitions.
Moroccan director Kamal Kamal will be this year’s guest of honour. He works for Moroccan television and is principally known for the feature films Taif Nizar (2002), Symphonie marocaine (2006), and Sotto Voce (2013).
Beyond the programme of films, the festival will offer photography exhibitions, script-writing workshops, poetry readings and meetings with directors, academics and researchers from four continents.
