In a recent press release, the Observatoire marocain de l’image et des médias announced that the 10th Cap Spartel International Film Festival in Tangier will be held from April 17th to 20th.
The Festival’s theme this year is “Journeys towards the other”, more specifically focussing on “the relationship between cinema and travel as a way of discovering oneself and others”. The selected films and the entire programme will explore this idea, in particular looking at Japan, in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy. There will also be meetings with directors from Ireland, Tunisia, Algeria, Venezuela and Switzerland.
This year’s festival will pay tribute to the film-maker Abdelkader Lagtaâ, an important figure in Moroccan cinema. His reputation comes from several feature films, including Un Amour à Casablanca (1991), Les Casablancais (1998) and more recently La Moitié du Ciel (2015). A tribute will also be paid to Yhtmad Bouziane, who works for culture and the arts in Tangier.
Workshops for screenwriting, voice coaching and acting will be offered during the event.
All the information is available on the Facebook page of the Cap Spartel International Film Festival.
