MALTA / The Malta Film Commission launches a €2 million scholarship fund

During the recent Mediterrane Film Festival, the Malta Film Commission announced the creation of a €2 million scholarship fund to develop and improve professional skills within the film industry.

The scholarship fund will enable film technicians to update their knowledge and expertise by taking training courses and professional development programmes. The initiative will be funded by the Malta Film Commission using proceeds from contributions made by productions benefiting from Malta’s cash rebate scheme.

This initiative follows a study highlighting the strong interest among Maltese technicians to access development and training programmes, says Malta’s TVM news.

As we mentioned in a previous article, the Maltese film industry is thriving. Between 2018 and 2025 it contributed €1.2 billion to the country’s GDP. The scholarship fund is part of the strategy to continue developing the national film sector.
