Malta has launched an international call to finance, build and operate the new Malta Film Studios which will house the world’s first Land-Sea Super Stage.
Planned for Kalkara, the aim of this ambitious project is to build state-of-the-art studios directly integrated with Malta’s existing water tanks, creating a filming location which spans both land and sea. It hopes to attract over €80 million of private investment into the local film industry.
“We have already seen major franchises like Gladiator and Jurassic World repeatedly choose Malta for the versatility of our filming locations and water tanks.” says Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech: “Now we want to complete Malta’s offer to the global film industry by developing a world-class studio complex which is truly unique.”
Deadline for tenders: December 7th.
