Launched in 2011, the Marseille Web Fest is an international event for short-form digital content and new ways of audiovisual storytelling. The 16th edition will take place from October 15th to 17th.
Every year the festival brings together a wide range of creators, producers and distributors to showcase creative work, foster innovation and support the sector’s economy. This year’s festival will focus on the “creator economy”, the financial system behind content production for social networks.
The festival features several categories of audiovisual works which will be showcased during the “Focus Série” sessions. Screenings will combine trailers and excerpts from the works, followed by Q&A sessions with the production teams.
There are 10 series in the international category, including Fără Sense (Romania), Hôtel Beyrouth (Canada), Future Manifest (Spain) and Cool Centre African Voices (Morocco). This last-mentioned series follows the CEO of a pan-African call centre whose life is at risk after receiving death threats. The French category includes Toilette de Fille, a series produced by Liik and Fablabchannel.
Marseille Web Fest is also for professionals, bringing together many in the industry to round tables and meetings. As part of this, Anne-Sophie Maxime, Head of Programming and Content at ICI Provence Alpes Côté d’Azur, will present France Télévisions’ strategies to win new audiences.
