On the evening of September 21st in Beirut the Middle East Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) will launch its new channel, MBC5, specifically for Morocco and North African countries. Mazen Hayek, MBC spokesperson, says, “MBC5 has many objectives for the region, all of them ambitious. It goes without saying that this project will stimulate investment, significantly increase national production and thus contribute to the promotion and expansion of the market. This will create new job opportunities and promote the exchange of experiences both locally, regionally and internationally.”
At the launch, MBC5’s programme schedules will be mostly family entertainment, with new projects and productions following soon. “Thanks to a committed and motivated team,” said Mohamed Abdelmotaâl, chair of MBC5, “and the collaboration of artists from Morocco and other North African countries, we managed, in record time, to set up a diversified and progressive schedule which includes North African and Arab productions, as well as other exclusive programmes and creations,”
