The 13th Lebanese Film Festival was held from September 17th to 21st in Beirut Souks, Cinemacity.
Many of those active on the country’s film festival circuit were there, Carol Mezher, for example, director of Films Femmes Francophones Méditerranée, who is collaborating with the Festival this year. She insisted that, for its 13th edition, the Festival celebrate Lebanese women film-makers by opening with Nadine Labaki’s “Capharnaum” and closing with Heiny Srour’s “L’heure de la libération a sonné”. Mezher also presented a project for a Mediterranean women film-makers’ residency at the French Institute in Deir El Qamar (central Lebanon).
Producer and festival founder Pierre Sarraf expressed his solidarity with the Dubai International Film Festival and the Beirut International Film Festival, both of which have been cancelled this year.
