In February the Jordan Cinema Academy (JCA) celebrated the graduation of its first intake of film students.
The ceremony took place at the Al Balad Theatre in Amman in the presence of Princess Rym Ali, Executive Commissioner on the Board of Directors of the Royal Film Commission (RFC), Professor Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German-Jordanian University (GJU), and Mohannad Al-Bakri, Director General of the RFC. Many industry professionals were also present.
Created in 2024 as a joint initiative of the RFC and the German-Jordanian University, the JCA’s objective is to train the next generation of Jordanian film-makers. It’s the first academy in Jordan specialising in film education. By promoting film and education in Jordan and the region, it offers young people comprehensive training which will help them enter the film industry.
For Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the GJU, “the graduation of the Academy’s first class represents a crucial step in building a globally competitive and accessible Jordanian film industry; it is also the result of a strategic partnership based on the conviction that investing in human capital is the foundation of sustainable cultural development.”
