ITALY / The European Film Market focusses on Italy

EFM

During the Cannes Film Festival, it was announced that Italy would be the Country in Focus at the next European Film Market (EFM).

Held in February alongside the Berlin Film Festival, the European Film Market is one of the three main meeting places for the international film industry. Every year since 2017 the event has chosen one country, giving it the chance to promote the work of its film-makers and giving them a framework in which to develop privileged contacts with international distributors and producers.

The official agreement was signed on May 20th at the Italian Pavilion in Cannes, by Mariëtte Rissenbeek, managing director of the Berlin Film Festival and Roberto Stabile, head of Special Projects and Internationalisation at MiC and Cinecittà.

Roberto Stabile said that Italy’s participation in the EFM would be“an important moment to turn the spotlight on the industry in a time of great change and growth” as well as a “key opportunity to strengthen relations with foreign partners.”
