The director, born in La Spezia, made the film in Italy. It takes a close look at exorcism in today’s world, at a time when more and more people are claiming to be “possessed”. In response, the Catholic Church is training more priests in exorcism.

The film follows Father Cataldo, one of the most experienced and sought after Sicilian exorcists, and four of the “possessed” who flock to a liberation mass given by the priest in Palermo every Tuesday.

Liberami” is produced by MIR Cinematografica and Rai Cinema, and co-produced by Opera Films and France 3 Corse ViaStella.

For this 73th edition, the Orizzonti jury was chaired by the Marseilles director Robert Guédiguian.
