The 5th MIA Market – Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo – will be held in Rome from October 16th to 20th 2019.
An annual platform bringing together the broadcasting sector’s main players, MIA Market presents about twenty projects under development in three sections: fiction films, drama series and documentaries. An opportunity for directors and producers of films and series to meet artistic and financial partners.
The project call is for the co-production market and pitching forum. It is for works-in-progress which already have a producer and a director – who must send a scenario in English plus a provisional budget, 25% of which should already be guaranteed. There must be no filming before this year’s event.
MIA market will choose 15 drama film projects, 12 drama series projects and 10 documentary projects – announcing the selected projects in early September. For the drama film section, Eurimages, the Council of Europe’s fund for co-producing, distributing, screening and digitizing cinematographic works, presents an award worth €20,000. This award reflects the importance of MIA in the international broadcasting landscape.
Lucia Milazzotto, MIA Market’s director, defines the event as “the latest tool in the Italian, European and international industry, which produces, distributes and finances world-class films, drama series and documentaries. MIA is a growing event. (…) We are confident that this year’s edition, our fifth, will confirm the importance of MIA Market as a key event in the calendar of the sector’s main players.”
