On August 21st Mario Martone (“L’amour meurtri”, “Frères d’Italie”) began shooting his seventh full-length feature “Capri – Batterie”.
Filming is scheduled to last eight weeks, split between the island of Capri and the Cilento region in Italy, south of Salerno, where in 2010 the Neapolitan director shot “Frères d’Italie”. The screenplay for his new film takes place on the eve of the First World War. In 1914, a group of young idealists from Northern Europe come together on the island of Capri, making it a centre for reflection on life and art. “Capri – Batterie” focuses in particular on their meeting with a young woman, Lucia, a symbol of Capri’s strong identity, and with the young local doctor.
The casting combines the new generation of Italian actors (Marianna Fontana, Antonio Folletto) with some young international rising stars (Jenna Thiam from Belgium, Reinout Scholten von Aschat from Holland and Lola Klamroth from Germany).
“Capri – Batterie” is an Italian / French co-production between Indigo Film (Italy), Rai Cinema (Italy) and Pathé (France). The film, with a grant from the Campania Region, will be distributed in Italian cinemas by 01 Distribution, while Pathé will handle international sales.
