FRANCE ITALY / Italy celebrated in Corsica

The 28th Festival de René Viale will be held in Bastia from January 30th to February 8th. A cultural event highlighting the Corsicans’ love of Italian cinema.

To show the richness of Italian cinema, the competitive section of the festival has 12 films about “the couple”, plus four films out of competition, children’s films and a tribute to the greatest names in Italian cinema. Screened in Italian with subtitles, 26 films will be presented during the festival, aimed at every age group.

The festival opened in the municipal theatre at 8pm on January 30th with a screening of Suburra – a story about the collapse of a corrupt system involving organized crime, politics and the church. As every year, there were discussions organised by the Dante Alighieri Association.

The jury includes the actress Toinou Massiani, architect and director Milou Tomasi, journalist Michel Maestracci and the academic Fabien Landron.
