Doc / it, the association of Italian documentary film-makers, has opened the call for nominations for the Doc / it Award Women, a new award to promote the development of documentaries about gender equality.
The organizers hope this award will highlight the work of women documentary film-makers, in line with the Audentia Award for best female director created this year by the Eurimages Fund.
The call for applications is open until July 30th and is for any documentary project produced by Italian-based companies which meet two of the following three conditions:
-
the film’s theme must be related to women
-
the film must be the work of one or several female directors
-
the film must be produced by one or several women
The winner will be chosen by a jury of five people working in broadcasting or culture and will be chaired by a woman. The winning project will have automatic access to the Italian Doc Screenings pitching sessions (the Italian documentary market organized by Doc / it) in the autumn.
