Andrea Occhipinti, managing director of Lucky Red, an Italian production and distribution company, is this year’s winner of the European Co-production Award – the Eurimages Award. It will be presented to him on December 12th at the European Film Awards ceremony in Berlin.
Founded in 1987, Lucky Red this year produced “Il Nome del Figlio”, an Italian adaptation of the French hit play “Le Prénom”. The company has many international successes to its credit, working with Lars Von Trier (“Breaking The Waves”, “Antichrist”), Alejandro Amenabar (“Ouvre les Yeux”, “Les Autres”, “Mar Adentro”), Paolo Sorrentino (“Il Divo”, “This must be the Place”) and the Dardenne brothers (“Le Gamin au Vélo”). Since its inception Lucky Red has distributed 250 films, producing or co-producing around forty of them.
