GREECE / The festival Beyond Borders presents its poster

Beyond Borders

The 9th Beyond Borders, the international documentary festival held on the Greek island of Kastellorizo, will run from August 25th to September 1st, and to publicize the event the organisers have revealed the Festival poster.

This year’s theme will be the concept “twice a stranger”. As the press release says, this notion reflects “the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey a century ago and the massive rejection of these people on both sides of the border.” The organisers of this year’s festival are interested in those left behind.

Produced by the polkadot design studio, the poster is taken from Biserka Šuran’s documentary Scenes with my Father. According to the organizers it illustrates that “the fusion of different cultures” is “a natural consequence of immigration.

The call for films for Beyond Borders is open until April 30th. Documentary films submitted must have been produced between 2022 and 2024. Applications can be filled in on the festival’s Film Freeway page.
