FID, the Festival International de Cinéma of Marseille, will take place in that city from July 9th to 15th with a rich programme of 125 films from 35 countries.
53 films are competing in the four competitive categories: 16 in the international competition, 12 in the French competition, 13 in First Film and 12 in the GNCR competition (Groupement National des Cinémas de Recherche).
Out of competition, FID offers its audience “ écrans parallèles”, which includes a tribute to Sharon Lockhart – who is also on the jury of the international competition – and to Bertrand Bonello. They will both receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Since it is the Year of Gastronomy in Provence, there are also films about food, in the category “cinema sans recettes”, including Ang Lee’s Eat Drink Man Woman and Tsai Ming-Liang’s The Wayward Cloud.
On the sidelines of the festival and in partnership with Mucem, there is FIDlab, an international workshop where 10 young directors will present their projects, with master classes and meetings during the festival week.
