This year’s Rencontres Films Femmes Méditerranée celebrates its tenth anniversary. 42 films by or for women from 15 Mediterranean countries – dramas and documentaries, features and shorts – will be screened: in Marseille from October 6th to 18th, then in Martigues on October 14th, October 15th/16th/17th in Hyères and October 25th at La Ciotat.
On the programme this year, a discussion at the Alcazar BMVR about “What do Mediterranean Women Dream About Watching Turkish TV Series?”, a round table on October 10th at the Villa Méditerranée to discuss how migrants are received: “From Exile to Putting Down Roots, Any Other Possibilities?” and a debate about Shu Aïllo and Catherine Catella’s documentary “A village in Calabria”, plus a tribute to film-maker and actress Delphine Seyrig through the screening of her films.
There will also be master classes with Georgian director Salome Alexi and Turkish director Emine Emel Balci. One evening will be given over to screening the 13 short films made by young women directors from both sides of the Mediterranean which are in competition for the Audience Award and Jury Award.
