France Télévisions‘ 24-hours news channel will soon be available on the web. Since it failed to obtain a DTT channel, the group has opted for a 100% digital version. Its ambition is to reach a younger audience. It could be launched as early as September, according to Thierry Thuillier, the company’s Chief Information Officer. The channel will have its own presenters. One third of its programmes will be specific to it, and the remaining two thirds will be taken from the news and magazine programmes of the group’s other channels. The theme will be the news: international, political, economic. The choice of 100% digital is justified by a desire to move closer to a younger audience which has changed its uses in how news is assimilated.
