FRANCE / Fipadoc celebrates documentary creativity in the Balkans

FIPADOC

This year’s Fipadoc, which runs from January 24th to February 1st, will devote its Territorial Focus to the Balkans, with 22 documentaries.

Among the first titles announced, Maja Novaković’s At the Door of the House Who Will Come Knocking? (Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina) takes us to the heart of Bosnia where an elderly and solitary man, Emin, lives out his final years with his faithful horse. As the seasons go by he seeks comfort and warmth in the embrace of nature and the sharing of his simple daily life with his only companion. Also presented, Bonnes Terres by Vladimir Perovic (France) meets breeders, farmers, a beekeeper, a painter and a teacher living in the valleys of Montenegro.

Apart from this focus on the Balkans, Fipadoc offers 170 documentaries, 8 competitive categories and three themes: the Middle East, the War in Ukraine and Intimate Stories.

The Middle East section is particularly focussed on Palestine with Tal Barda’s I Shall Not Hate, about a Gazan doctor exiled in Canada fighting for peace. The film is part of the competition for the Grand Prix Documentary Impact.
