GREC (Groupe de recherches et d’essais cinématographique) is launching a call for applications for the in-residence workshop “Improving the writing of a short film”, organized in partnership with the Cinémathèque Gnidzaz in the southern French town of Martigues.
This intensive 15-day programme will be held from June 27th to July 11th in Martigues. Twelve applicants will be selected on the basis of their project for a short film. Supervised by scriptwriters and other film professionals (filmmakers, producers, technicians), the workshop will help bring out the main themes of each script, then find the best way of expressing them visually. Once the director’s intentions are clarified, work will be done on how best to film each project and direct the actors.
The workshop will be run by scriptwriter Laure Desmazières, director Jean-Claude Taki and a film critic, Michelle Humbert. Throughout the workshop there will be screenings at the Cinémathèque Gnidzaz, followed by analysis and meetings with guest professionals, as well as meetings with representatives of film organizations, broadcasters and exhibitors.
