Marseille: 2016 Script Writer’s Residency in the Cité Radieuse.
Horizontes del Sur is an association which annually organizes Marseille’s Spanish Film Festival, and in 2013 the Mayor of Marseille created a script writer’s residency in the building designed by the legendary Le Corbusier, the Cité Radieuse.
The first writer-in-residence was writer/director Jo Sol.
The writing residency is open to all authors (scriptwriters, dialogue writers, writer-directors) of feature film projects living and working in Spain. The winner of this call for projects will be given the use of a flat in Marseille’s Cité Radieuse from October 26th to November 26th 2016.
During his month in residence, the winner will meet the city’s cultural grandees and the Spanish directors and producers who come to the 15th Marseille Spanish Film Festival in November 2016. His work will be presented publicly in Marseille at the end of the residency.
As part of the partnership between the Marseille Spanish Film Festival and the Malaga Film Festival, the writer-in-residence will be welcomed at the Malaga Festival in spring 2016.
Candidates should present their writing project plus a letter of motivation in French and Spanish.
Who is eligible?
- The residence is open to candidates who live and work in Spain, regardless of nationality.
- The residence is open to authors of a new and original project, free of any commitment with a production company. If the project is an adaptation of an existing work, the candidate must show what steps he has taken to secure the film rights.
- The project’s dossier must be written in Spanish, with the CV and synopsis in French and Spanish.
However, the writing done on site need not necessarily be in Spanish.
- Each candidate may only submit one project per session.
- Each candidate must indicate his motivation for the residency and the benefit he will derive from it.
- The proposed project can include links with Marseilles.
