From July 18th to 25th the CMCA (Centre Méditerranéen de la Communication Audiovisuelle) and INA Méditerranée (Institut National de l’Audiovisuel) organized the ninth training session for making news reports using archive material.
Seven Mediterranean television stations, each a member of the CMCA, sent trainees to Marseille for the week.
The session began with two days of lectures on how to preserve and analyse broadcasting archives, followed by making a short news report from archive material. The subject was “Tramways of memory: another take on urban planning history in Marseille and other Mediterranean cities”.
The short films were made in collaboration with RTM (Régie des Transports de Marseille).
Students also had the opportunity to meet professionals from France Télévisions during a visit to the France 3 studios in Marseille, where they discussed writing and planning news programmes in their respective countries, including the use of archives.
