
The final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) between Senegal and Morocco on January 18th drew nearly 4 million television viewers in France.
The two broadcasters in France, beIN SPORTS and M6, announced their respective audience figures for that match: the Qatari-owned channel averaged 595,000 viewers, while M6 attracted 3.37 million. According to the newspaper L’Équipe, this is a record for the competition.
Across the whole tournament beIN SPORTS’ audience figures reveal the strong interest in the Algerian team’s matches. The quarter-finals between Algeria and Nigeria averaged 480,000 viewers, peaking at 708,000.
