The ZoomInWomen festival is part of a collaboration between Zatek (the Cairo-based Digital Museum of Women, an on-line system to help women’s emancipation) and the British Embassy, which in 2016 created Inspire Egypt, an event for Egyptians wanting to change their society’s attitudes to women.
ZoomInWomen is a travelling event, using short films to show the lives of Egyptian women, their daily struggles and their victories.
Screenings are planned across Egypt, including the Nile Delta and Upper Egypt. The festival organizers hope to show the films to as many people as possible, followed by discussions with the film-makers.
