EGYPT / The 6th El Gouna Film Festival opens

During a press conference, the organisers of the El Gouna Film Festival announced the films for the 6th edition which will be held from October 27th to November 2nd.

This international festival specialises in discovering new voices while also being a catalyst for developing film-production in the Arab world. 14 films will be shown in the feature-length fiction competition, 12 in the feature-length documentary competition and 21 in the short-film competition.

In the documentary competition Zinet, Algiers, happiness by Algerian director Mohamed Latrèche will be shown in preview. It looks back at the journey of the militant actor / director Mohamed Zinet, author of Tahya ya Didou (1971).

Professional meetings such as the CineGouna SpringBoard, CineGouna Bridge and CineGouna Market have all been retained as central pillars of the event, while numerous masterclasses and round tables will also be organized. The CineGouna SpringBoard will be an opportunity for 20 projects to find backers – 13 are in development and 7 in post-production.
