CYPRUS / The 15th Cyprus International Short Film Festival closes

From October 11th to 17th the Cyprus International Short Film Festival presented a wide selection of national and international films in Limassol.

In the international competition, Noi by Neritan Zinxhiria (Greece, Albania) won the Best Eastern Mediterranean Film Award plus a nomination for the European Short Film Award.

In the national competition, the top award went to Christos Artemiou for Prelude to a Supernova – about a 10-year-old girl, Persephone, and her struggle for survival. The film-maker also received the Best Director Award.

Apart from the competitions, the festival also offered “Cyprus: Once Now”, a programme of documentaries which explore Cypriots’ relationship with tradition and social change. Six films were shown, including Plots of Land, Marks of Stitching by Phemia Demosthenus, Kaimakli by Nikandros Savvides and Float by Meli Vasiloudes Bayada.
