The feature-length documentary, Reborn, directed by Narcisa Darijević Marković (Serbia) and Marija Ratković Vidaković (Sweden-Croatia) is now in post-production.
Supported by the Serbian Film Centre and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Reborn is the story of a 79 year-old woman, Bärbel, who sets out to find her father in Serbia, a man she has never known and always believed to be dead. The film explores the issue of family separations during wartime.
“Ultimately, the film explores what it means to be part of a family,” the directors explained in an interview with FNE: “not only in the legal or biological sense, but also through lived relationships and shared memories. As co-directors, we followed this story through an intimate and cross-border process, during which personal history, silence and family dynamics gradually reveal themselves.”
The film is co-produced by Art Produkcija (Serbia), Turbing d.o.o. (Croatia) and Wizworks Studios (Sweden).
