Having closed in 2019, Zagreb’s much-loved Kino Europa cinema is currently being restored.
With €6 million from the European Regional Development Fund, the total cost of the project is €11.6 million, covering building, restoration and conservation work plus modernising the technical side.
At the project launch, Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević said: “We are finally gathered here today to inaugurate the renovation of the Kino Europa. We will not only restore the cinema to its former glory and original appearance, but also upgrade it with all the necessary film equipment. The cultural value of the Kino Europa for Zagreb and Croatia is exceptional, which is why we have designated it a strategic project for the city.”
Completion date is scheduled for the end of 2027.
