Croatia / An agreement signed between the HPB bank and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre

The Croatian Postal Bank (HPB) and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) have signed an agreement so the country’s broadcasting sector can access more funding for its future productions. The bank is offering a new loan to help finance films subsidized by the HAVC.

This new loan will finance national broadcasting works in line with the state programme which allocates aid for broadcasting production, broadcasting culture and preserving broadcasting heritage. Foreign projects receiving state aid for filming in Croatia will also benefit from this new agreement. For supporting Croatian film projects up to December 31st 2023, HPB has an annual total of 100 million kuna (€13,222,150) and 50 million kuna (€6,611,075) for foreign productions.

For Christopher Peter Marcich, General Director of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, this cooperation with HPB is “a new step which facilitates financing via credit the projects supported by the HAVC. It will provide Croatian producers with financial security during the film production phase and give them a stronger negotiating position when organizing international co-productions.” HPB, the Croatian Postal Bank, also welcomes this partnership:“We are proud to participate in promoting Croatia’s popularity as a recognized filming location. Croatian film tourism is booming and one of its most significant positive effects is attracting tourists even outside the usual seasonal periods. We are convinced that in the future we will continue to develop this cooperation to our mutual satisfaction.
