ALGERIA / Chabane Lounakel, new Director General of EPTV

Mr. Chabane Lounakel is the new Director General of EPTV, the Algerian public television (formerly ENTV). His appointment was formalised at the channel’s headquarters, in the presence of Amar Belhimer, Minister of Communication and Government Spokesman. The Minister declared that this appointment responded to “national, regional and international media challenges which require everyone’s mobilization and pooling of efforts to ensure EPTV meets Algerian televiewer’s expectations.”

Since May 2nd, following the dismissal of Ahmed Bensebane, EPTV’s temporary DG had been Fethi Saidi.
Mr. Lounakel ran the country’s national radio station from 2012 to 2019, during the presidency of Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
