FRANCE / Call for support for the project “[P]Ose ta bombe”: A documentary series about the place of women in street art

Charlotte Ricco and Elodie Sylvain have created a documentary series about women creating street art and, more broadly, art in public places. The series will be called “[P] Ose ta bombe” – “[Put down], Be bold with your spray-can of paint / bomb”.

Everyone agrees that street art has made a niche for itself in the contemporary art scene. There are exhibitions in galleries, graffiti is sold at auction, the media frequently refer to this artistic movement – which is now becoming more and more institutionalized.

The two film-makers meet female artists who specialise in graffiti, seeking to understand why there are so few women in street art. At the same time the film highlights the work of these women who dare express themselves on walls: in Morocco, where very few women are involved, whereas in Brazil there are collectives of female graffiti artists making a stand against male violence, or in Portugal where there are “graffiti grandmothers” taking possession of the streets, in Thailand, Australia, etc.

To make this amazing project more widely available – and it’s only just beginning – Charlotte Ricco and Elodie Sylvain are looking for a production company. They’re also appealing to interested broadcasters, or indeed anyone who might be able to help the project in a specific way (information about writing grants, funding opportunities etc.).

You can contact the film-makers at this address: posetabombe@gmail.com
