The Malta Film Commission has announced that for the first time the Malta Film Fund will receive a total budget of €300,000.
The Fund awards seven different grants: two for development funding, one for production, two for short films and two for distribution, including registration fees for international festivals.
The reason for the budget increase is to support local film-makers, young talents or experienced film-makers. In this way the Malta Film Commission hopes to revive the local film industry, thus raising the quality of Maltese films.
The Ministry of Tourism, headed by Edward Zammit Lewis, said the Maltese Film Fund contributed to building a strong and sustainable Maltese film industry.
