During the 3rd Ponta Lopud Film Festival (June 20th– 24th), the organisers launched the Regional Film and TV Academy together with their colleagues at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

Their aim is to develop the mentoring, exchange and promotion of film and television projects produced in all the countries of former Yugoslavia. It will organise professional discussions and an award ceremony which will take place in the Olympic centre at Jahorina in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Already the Academy has 450 members from the region’s audiovisual sector. A number which, according to the press release, will increase each year.

During the launch the director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Jovan Marjanović, said “having professionals promote the region’s best films will increase their visibility in national markets. The fact that no country in the region has its own film and television academy is telling, and we believe that such an organization will serve to rejuvenate, promote and protect our profession.”

Created in 2021, the Ponta Lopud film festival takes place on the island of Lopud in Croatia. With a programme of international films and numerous conferences it offers a meeting place for film industry professionals to discuss their shared experiences and ways of working.
