
The Arab Cinema Centre (ACC) announced the winners of the 10th Arab Film Critics’ Awards. The ceremony took place on May 16th during the Cannes Film Market.
At the event, ACC founders Alaa Karkouti and Maher Diab reiterated that the role of these awards is to “highlight the best Arab films and talent and help them achieve the international recognition they deserve.”
An international jury of 307 film critics from 27 countries viewed all the nominated films. This year the Arab Cinema Centre presented awards in 10 categories, including Best Feature Film, Best Documentary, Best Screenplay and more.
The Best Director Award went to Cherien Dabis for All That’s Left of You, a story spanning three generations of a Palestinian family from 1948 to 2020.
The Best Documentary award went to Zaradasht Ahmed’s The Lions by the River Tigris. This Iraqi film chronicles the daily lives of three men determined to revive Mosul’s identity despite the ravages of war.
