The candidate call for the 2021 President’s Award for Young Creators, Ali-Maâchi, has been launched by the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Art. Young writers and artists from various artistic fields are asked to participate.
The award is open to writers, musicians and composers, actors, choreographers and dancers, visual artists and film-makers between the ages of 18 and 35. There are three awards in each category: writing (fiction, poetry, plays), artistic works (musical, lyrical and dance, film and audiovisual), theatre (acting, staging) and the visual arts (painting, sculpture, design).
Applicants are invited to submit their applications on the website of the Ministry of Culture and Art: e-servicesculture.dz.
Each award-winner takes home a certificate and a cash prize: €3,200 for the first prize, €2,000 for the second and €650 for the third. Applications must be sent in before mid-April. The award ceremony is scheduled for June 8th.
Ali Al-Maâchi was a young Algerian martyr, poet and singer, made famous for his militant, pro-independence songs.
