Organized online from October 4th to 6th the 8th Antalya Film Forum used its five online platforms to present several awards totalling €45,000. The event is part of the 58th Golden Orange Film Festival. This year a total of 26 projects participated.
The “Feature Film Pitching” platform received 70 projects in development, each with a director and/or a producer on board, 8 were Turkish. The jury finally chose to split the €6,000 prize between Doğu Yaşar Akal’s “Tussifed” and “A Smile Worthwhile” by Sefa Öztürk, a sort of mockumentary about a novice lawyer whose giggling in a police station while defending some protesters gets caught on video and goes viral, dividing the country. The Award for post-production went to Sertaç Koyuncu’s “Peer Through the Skin”, a sci-fi thriller about an explosion in a poor mining town which a group of believers link to aliens. The new “TRT Feature Films Pitching Platform Award” worth €3,000, went to “Three Metres” a drama mixing the themes of Earth, property and war. The film “Expecting A Grain of Sand” by director Aslı Akdağ also received the Special Jury Prize in the documentary category. In addition to project presentations, this year the Forum launched a new initiative “Forum Plus” – workshops, discussion panels and a master class on screen adaptations of literary works.
