Created in 1966, the 32nd Carthage Cinematographic Days (JCC) is scheduled from October 30th to November 6th, 2021 in Tunis. The call for applications is open for short and feature-length dramas, animation and documentary films from Africa and the Arab world. 13 Tanits, the JCC awards, will go to the best films and best actors in the competition. The deadline for submitting films for the Official Competition is August 15th 2021, while the Carthage Ciné Promesse section will close on August 30th.
The programme of the JCC includes the following sections:
- The Official Competition: open to long (+ 60 minutes) and short (-30 minutes) African and Arab films
- The Official Documentary Competition is open to African and Arab documentary feature-length films and short films
- The section “Carthage Ciné Promesse” is for showing African and Arab films from schools, and accepts feature-length dramas, animation and documentaries with a maximum length of 30 minutes
- The Official Out of Competition Selection is open to African and Arab feature films and short films, animated films or documentaries.
Along with the screenings, the 32nd Carthage Cinematographic Days is organizing other activities. “Chabake”, a workshop on film development grants, aims to encourage co-productions between African, Arab and other countries by connecting producers and film-makers who have projects in development with international professionals in the industry. Development grants will be awarded at the end of the workshop.
“Takmil” is a workshop on post-production, supporting and awarding grants to films by African and Arab film-makers in post-production. Meetings, exhibitions, round tables and discussions about the artistic and industrial aspects of film-making in African and Arab countries are also planned.
