From December 5th to 12th PriMed (Prix International du Documentaire et du Reportage méditerranéen) is back for its 19th year, already promising to stimulate, move, provoke, even change people.
For a week at the Villa Méditerranée, the Bibliothèque de l’Alcazar and MuCEM, the CMCA (Centre Méditerranéen de la Communication Audiovisuelle), organiser of PriMed, is offering the Marseilles public the chance to see, free of charge, the 24 films in competition from 18 different countries. For most screenings the film’s director will be present to answer questions.
First rendez-vous: on Saturday December 5th the special afternoon “Prix du Public”, as from 3:00pm at MuCEM. During this session you will be able to vote for the short film you consider the best among the 4 selected for PriMed 2015.
On Friday December 11th a screening and discussion at 10:00 am at the Villa Méditerranée, with a screening of Cécile Allegra and Delphine Deloget’s 2015 Albert Londres Award winner “Voyage en Barbarie”. From 11:00 am there will be a discussion on “The Paths of Exile”, with Cécila Allegra, François Gemenne (political science researcher) and Amedeo Ricucci (Rai journalist, Radiotelevisione italiana). Under what conditions do migrants and refugees leave their country of origin, crossing land and sea? Are they hoping to find a better life elsewhere – or simply survive?
Also on Friday December 11th there will be the Award Ceremony at 5:30pm at the Villa Méditerranée, hosted by Algerian actress, singer and dancer BIYOUNA, PriMed’s godmother, together with the directors, the jury and representatives of local authorities. 11 awards will be given, including 3 Broadcasting Awards, a Public Award and the Prix MPM Averroès Junior given by 600 sixth-form students from the PACA Region, Switzerland and Croatia.
On Saturday December 12th every award-winning film will be screened again at the Villa Méditerranée from 2:00pm to 9:00pm and at the Alcazar from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
